It all started with a vision Claudia Taglich had shortly after relocating to Oyster Bay from Sag Harbor in 2015. A gorgeous two-story building with great bones and a ton of potential stood empty on a picturesque street corner in the town's square. It just needed someone with imagination and foresight to develop what would soon become a Long Island dining institution. With Claudia's keen sense of design & love for entertaining, she took a leap of faith to make 2 Spring a reality.
Claudia somewhat serendipitously joined forces with Chef Jesse Schenker who shared her vision & together they brought 2 Spring to life.
Jesse's contemporary approach to recreating American classics is a reflection of who he is as a chef: equal parts devotee to highly refined techniques + a passion for all things delicious. Chef Schenker first made his mark on the culinary scene in Manhattan with Recette, the intimate urban American restaurant which he opened in New York's West Village in January 2010. In addition to being a twice nominated James Beard Award semi-finalist, Schenker has received a number of awards and accolades, including a spot on Forbes "30 Under 30" list and Schenker was victorious in his battle on Food Network's Iron Chef America in 2011.
Claudia Taglich & Jesse Schenker opened 2 Spring in January 2018.
Claudia entrusted esteemed architect Jim Smiros of Smiros & Smiros and interior designer Sophie Lee Thibon to transform her dream space into a reality.
Since then, they have expanded 2 Spring's footprint with the addition of an outdoor terrace & a glass-roofed atrium. In 2022, they opened The Chef's Counter at FOUR, an intimate 10- seat restaurant focusing on multi-course tasting menus. Their next spot, Gimme Burger, a fast-food restaurant focusing on fresh, never processed food, opened in February of 2023.
There are many other projects in the works in Oyster Bay which they both like to call home, including a Northern Italian inspired restaurant, GIOIA as well as their first bakery, Provisions Bread & Cheese, both opening Fall 2023.
